We would like to thank everyone involved with our first annual Ride For The Animals Poker Run. It was a huge success! We raised $3,000.00 for the horses and large breed dogs at Hooves & Paws Rescue, Inc. We would like to share some photos of the event.Two live bands performed from 5:00 p.m. till 1:00 a.m.

Some of the prizes won were a Big Screen TV, a Stainless Steel Grill, many gift certificates, cash prizes, nights out at the Casinos in Council Bluffs, IA, Harley Davidson items, and several various gift bags.

Excuses Bar in Malvern, IA hosted the event. A huge thank you to Christy Moline, Owner of Excuses Bar and Leslie Scott, both good friends our ours who planned this event and did an incredible job!

Hooves & Paws Rescue 3rd Annual Golf Tournament May 23, 2010 was a huge success! We had a record number of golfers this year. We raised over $2,000.00 for the care of the horses & large breed dogs at Hooves & Paws Rescue, Inc.

Bubba Hoss, one of our rescued forever resident Saint Bernard's attended the event and had a wonderful time. Molly, another rescued dog from Hooves & Paws Rescue who is looking for her forever home was introduced at the event.

Genea Stoops, President of Hooves & Paws Rescue was a key speaker for this event. She along with Vice-President Bill Stoops hosted the event. Several videos were shown of the many horses & large breed dogs that Hooves & Paws Rescue has saved & are currently caring for at their facility and those they are responsible in many foster homes across the U.S.

We would like to thank everyone who stopped by to visit us at the 2010 NE Horse Expo.  We made a lot of contacts and possible foster homes for both horses & large breed dogs.  We want to thank our Volunteers Susan, Brit, Connie & Becky who did a fantastic job helping us at this event. Also, thank you to everyone at the NE Horse Expo for their kindness shown to us at this event. Two of our rescued Saint Bernard's, Bubba & Victoria Louise attended the event and as always did a great job greeting people.

We would like to thank The Horse Lovers 4-H Club for sponsoring the Bake & Craft Sale for Hooves & Paws Rescue February 13, 2010. $315.00 was raised at this event!! The event was held at Baker's Supermarket's at 90th & Fort Street in Omaha, NE. The members of this Club are ages 8-16 year old. This was the second annual event they have held to raise money for the care of the horses & large breed dogs at Hooves & Paws Rescue. We also want to thank their leader, Rose Edwards who is a good friend of ours & the animals at Hooves & Paws Rescue.

We are asking everyone to help us continue to raise funds for our much needed expansion before winter hits.  We currently have many horses and large breed dogs that we are responsible for.  We have placed some of these animals in foster/safe houses due to the fact that we are out of space at our rescue facility.  As many of you know we have had land donated to us, now before winter we need to fence the area and put shelters up for the horses at minimum.

If anyone has any fund raising ideas or wants to become involved in any way with fundraising for our rescue facility we welcome the chance to speak with you.  We also need Volunteers to help on Sundays with brushing horses, brushing dogs, cleaning up the dog’s area and various other projects.  Please call in advance before coming to the rescue as we have a lot of tours coming up that we plan on having on Sundays.  We also do home checks and work on our books on Sundays.  But we still have a lot that we need to get done before winter and very little time to do it.  We will be painting the dog’s room from top to bottom within the next two weeks so if you can help with that project please let us know.  

We like all rescue facilities do not get any funding of any type other than donations.  Because of this we must rely on the public to help us continue the work we do at our rescue facility.

Each rescue that we go on is an unknown.  We have so many things that come up regarding the care of these animals that we are asked to help.  Regardless of these unknowns we still continue to help each and every animal that we possibly can.  If we can’t place the animal at our rescue for any reason we work hard to foster or adopt the animal through our rescue.

Our next event that we are working on will be a Golf Outing.  We are looking at late September or early October.  Billy, my husband is a very good golfer (that is what he tells me anyway).  So, he will be a huge part of planning this event.  If anyone is a Golfer or knows a person who likes to Golf and would like to help plan this event please let us know.

Rose Edwards, the leader of the group is a very special lady.  She brought with her a group of wonderful children and several of the children's parents.  Everyone in the group had a chance to spend time with all of the dogs, puppies and horses at the rescue.  The children took turns leading two of the horses, Chuck & Fever. 
They also brought several donations from various vendors in the Nebraska area.  We also received monetary donations from several individuals that came for the seminar.   We would like to thank the following vendors for the in-kind donations that were sent along with the Horse Lovers 4H Club to be donated to our rescue. Tractor Supply Company, Northwest Feed & Grain, Lucky D Tack & Farrier Supply and Starborn Farms.  We all had a wonderful time during this event. The children were a very well behaved  and we welcome them all back anytime! Here are some pictures of the event.


--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We want to thank everyone who stopped by to visit with us at the Nebraska Horse Expo March 7^th 8^th & 9^th 2008.  We made a lot of contacts, met many wonderful people and had several individuals and family’s offer to volunteer at our rescue facility. Victoria Louise, one of our rescued St. Bernard’s came with us all three days to help greet people.  We also brought Sophia Lynn Sunday to help us greet people.  This was the first time Sophia Lynn has been to an event and she did very well. Both St. Bernard’s got a lot of love & hugs from many animal lovers. We passed out material regarding our mission at our rescue facility. We had several people offer to become safe houses for both horses and large breed dogs which was very nice.
