You Were Very Special And We Were Honored To Be Able To Care For You In Your Golden Years. Until We Meet Again, We Will Always Love You.
Sophia came in as an Owner Surrender. Her life was full of abuse, neglect and folks that just did not want her. She ended up being removed from a neglectful situation in Nebraska by another Shelter. Then she was adopted out of that Shelter and she went to another family that did not care for her and did not provide for her. When we were called to take her out of this situation she was very underweight and had a severe ear infection that had not been treated for many years. We had to have surgery on her ear within 24 hours of her arrival. Her ear was stuck to the side of her head filled with black infection. She screamed in pain when her ear was touched. After the surgery we were told that due to the fact that the infection was so severe in her ear that this ear would be a problem for life. So, each day we cleaned her ear and put medicated cream in her ear to keep her going in the right direction. Sophia was an angel after everything she had been through. She loved to go for rides and she was Billy's Co-Pilot each week when he did his hay run to pick up hay for the rescued horses. She was a very special older girl and we were honored to be able to care for her during the last years of her life. She passed peacefully in our arms after a short battle with bone cancer in her leg.
