When I Arrived At Hooves & Paws Rescue Of The Heartland I Was Full Of Whip Marks, Starved & Neglected. Today I Am Healed On The Outside But I Remain Fearful Of Certain Situations & New People
Papa River came to us from a severe abuse & neglect case. We were contacted by Law Enforcement to remove Papa River along with a very young colt, Baby Walter and a Mare, Joy. All were being starved, neglected & abused by their former Owners. Papa River arrived with deep infected whip marks across his chest, his hooves were very overgrown and he was very fearful of any human touch. His tail was full of maggots and a twisted mess. We worked very hard on Papa River’s health issues and lack of hoof care. He is now healed on the outside but remains very fearful of certain situations and new people. For this reason he will remain with us for the rest of his life to keep him safe and also to avoid him hurting anyone in his path that he does not trust. He does wonderful with us and for that we are very thankful. Papa River is in need of a *Monthly Sponsor* to help defer some of the cost of his feed, medical & farrier services. We will also gladly accept one time donations. One Time & Monthly Donations can be made quick & easy through our Pay Pal link on our website. They can also be mailed to our Rescue/Shelter at 27821 Hwy 34 in Glenwood, Iowa 51534.
